Summary
In this paper, I tried to highlight the importance of addressing the relationship between shame and the different states of the self. This is one of the foundations on which the essence of psychoanalytic technique rests. Thus, in the intersubjective field established by the patient and the therapist there will be better attuned responses if we have a continuous awareness of the different states of the self created and responded in the swift pace of the analytical encounter.
