EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this conference, participants will be able to:
1. Understand and evaluate the roles of empathy, interpretation and the relationship in the therapeutic process;
2. Apply this knowledge and understanding to their clinical work;
3. Have a basis to evaluate the roles of these therapeutic elements in their cases;
4. Understand the unique perspectives of self psychology and the effect of these perspectives on our assumptions about human motivations;
5. Apply that knowledge to the evaluation of basic research approaches in all the human sciences.
ACCREDITATION
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of The American Psychoanalytic Association and The Institute for Psychoanalysis of Chicago. The American Psychoanalytic Association is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians and takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of the CME activity.
The American Psychoanalytic Association designates this educational activity for a maximum of 21.0 hours in category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
The Institute for Psychoanalysis of Chicago is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education credit for psychologists. The Institute for Psychoanalysis of Chicago maintains responsibility for the program. Full attendance at the conference is required to receive CE credit. Partial credit will not be awarded.
The Institute for Psychoanalysis of Chicago is approved as a continuing education sponsor for social workers by the Department of Professional Regulation of the State of Illinois. The Institute designates this continuing education activity as earning hour-for-hour credit for continuing education units.
The San Diego Self Psychology Study Group is an Approved Provider of Mandatory Continuing Education for Psychologists (SAN109). This program is currently under review by the California Psychological Association Accrediting Agency. To inquire about approval, please phone (858) 565-9921 after August 1, 2000.
The San Diego Self Psychology Study Group is approved as a continuing education sponsor for social workers. This course meets the qualifications for up to 21.0 hours of Continuing Education Credit for MFCC's and/or LCSW's as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Provider No. PCE456).
