The Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis
The Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles provides training programs in psychoanalytic psychotherapy in San Diego ( ICP South - Sanford Shapiro M.D. (sshapiro@ucsd.edu), coordinator (619-454-9751), and San Francisco Bay area (ICP North - Kenneth L. Koenig, M.D. (selfdoc@aol.com) (831-476-2676), and Jane Jordan, M.S.W. (415-931-5730), co-coordinators). The psychoanalytic psychotherapy programs are open to all licensed mental health professionals and share a common philosophy with ICP's full psychoanalytic program. The ICP North program integrates ideas from the following: Self psychology, intersubjectivity theory, control-mastery theory, object relations theory, social constructivism, relational theory, infant and toddler research, attachment theory, and systems approaches to interaction of self and other.
